Arlington Bowie quarterback Deric Davis completed 22 of 31
passes for 408 yards and six touchdowns, and rushed for another
score, to lead the Volunteers to a 62-20 victory over Mansfield
Summit on Thursday night at UT-Arlington’s Maverick Stadium.

Davis connected with Austin Whitaker to give
the Volunteers an early lead. On Bowie’s
first possession, Davis hooked up with
Whitaker for a 16-yard gain to the
Volunteers 47. Two plays later, Davis
completed a deep pass over the middle to
Whitaker, who cruised into the end zone from
45 yards out for a 7-0 lead.
