The
South Garland Colonels were simply overmatched as
Arlington Bowie, No. 3 in the
Star-Telegram Class 5A area rankings, cruised
to a 35-6 victory Friday night at Homer B. Johnson
Stadium. |
|
Bowie
(2-0) came out with their starters for the first
drive of the second half and scored on a 23-yard
pass from Matthews to Justin Foster to put the game
out of reach.

"I was a little worried
about a letdown after last week, but we really came
out and executed," said Bowie coach Kenny Perry,
whose team defeated Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) 48-0
last week. "We've got a lot of weapons on offense,
and when we play like that on defense we're tough.
Our defense was outstanding tonight."

FRIDAY NIGHT
INSIGHT - 5 ANALYSIS |
|
DFW BLOG, Sep 6, 2008 |
|
There's just a lot of good 5A teams right now. Are
there any great teams? I think you'd have to put
Trinity in that category until proven otherwise.
Plano, Allen, Southlake Carroll, Cedar Hill, Skyline
and Arlington Bowie all look really strong, too.
Starting next week, some of those teams begin
playing each other: Skyline vs. Bowie, Trinity vs.
Cedar Hill, plus a suddenly interesting matchup of
Mesquite and Garland Naaman Forest. Should be fun.
