players all week that they weren’t only representing
Bowie at the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity FootballSeries, but that they were representing the state of

Bowie
built on their first taste of success in a huge way
last season, and the progression should continue
this season. The Vols don’t return a ton of
experience, but what they do have back is very
good. Even when Bowie was going through losing
seasons, many recognized the great talent this
campus contained. Bowie has always been a hotbed
for Division 1 talent. Now that they’ve apparently
found the right coach for the job, it seems the sky
is the limit for the program, and that is a scary
prospect for the rest of Texas.

COACH: Kenny
Perry
2007 RECORD:
12-2
RETURNING
STARTERS: 3 offense; 2 defense
STRENGTHS: Christian Matthews is one of
the area's premier passers after throwing for 2,786
yards and 25 touchdowns in 2007. Most of his targets
have graduated, but he will have linemen Jamal
Lewis and Derek Okafor back protecting
him. Free safety Dexter Linton, who had 75

NOTABLE: Bowie
was 1-9 in both 2004 and 2005 but has won 19 games
in the two seasons since. |
